Jump To: Retail CDs Promotional CDs Bootlegs?

Every song here, whether it's a newer tune or their old hits "Where's the Love" and "MMM Bop," is given an arrangement that is simultaneously stripped down and opened up, giving the trio plenty of space to jam. ...it is nevertheless a very good live album that will certainly satisfy hardcore fans and, if given a chance, could change the minds of some skeptics.
--Stephen Erlewine, All Music Guide

The Best of Hanson: Live & Electric (L&E) represents not only Hanson's best music from the Underneath Tour, but the best live music of Hanson's career up to this point. The album was recorded during Hanson's final leg of the Underneath Tour in Melbourne, Australia on June 6, 2005.

Release Date: October 10, 2005

Australia (and the UK) released L&E on October 10, 2005. The album gets special treatment here because it was recorded in Melbourne - the album comes with a unique cover that is not on any other release.

I'm amused that even though "If Only" is listed as a bonus track, it appears on every single album release. Is it really a 'bonus'? ;-) The very last track is the one to pay attention to. The Aussie version has Hey as the final track.

The Australian version is CD/DVD only.

Bonus Tracks:
1. If Only
2. Hey

The UK version of L&E. Look closely at the audio CD - does the Hanson symbol look different to you? It is actually printed backwards and upside down!

So far, no other versions have this error.

The UK version has Believe as the final track.

The UK version is CD/DVD only.

Bonus Tracks:
1. If Only
2. Believe

# 10501
Release Date: October 11, 2005

CD only US version of L&E, released on October 11. So far, the US is the only country to release a CD only version.

The lyricbook lists the DVD content inside, although this version has no DVD. Hmm.

I'm quite convinced that Hanson truly does not know how to spell MMMBop, because it is spelled three different ways yet again! (See UAL for more on the many spellings of MMMBop.) The sticker on the front says "MmmBop", the lyricbook says "MMM BOP", and the back cover says "MMMBOP." Sigh. ;-)

Some have reported receiving two lyricbooks or two back inserts with their CDs.

The US version has A Song To Sing as the final track.

Bonus Tracks:
1. If Only
2. A Song To Sing

Remember when Hanson appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live in September of 2005? We got our first glimpse of Live & Electric greatness on this show. Here is the very CD that Jimmy Kimmel had - one of the first promos to surface. Notice that the album is titled "Hanson Live," not "The Best of Hanson: Live & Electric," plus take a look at the awesome pictures on the back cover. Too cool.

Very rare promo edition of L&E. The CD comes in a cardboard slipcase with "Advance CD" written on the front, as well as release date & track information. The back cover has the full track listing (note that Penny is spelled Penny And Me), a few quotes, the Live & Electric Tour dates, and 3CG contact info.

Notice that date 11/1 was originally for the Starland Ballroom venue in Sayreville, New Jersey - for the final release, the date has been changed to the Ritacco Center in Toms River, NJ.

Two different CDs were pressed for this promo - one, a plain brown CD, and two, a brown CD with some sort of design in the upper right of the CD. What is it, exactly? I have no idea!

Very interesting Asian L&E release with back cover art dating all the way back to 1997. Interesting picture disc, too, especially considering that "Hanson" is spelled "Hanston." ;-)

No 3CG logos or Sony Music logos - only a generic 'copyright' blurb on the back with a tiny bar code. The lyric book is hysterical - it opens to reveal lyrics to the songs, but I guess the producers got lazy, because the lyrics literally cut off in the middle of This Time Around.

Weird from Middle of Nowhere is thrown on the very end of the album after A Song To Sing. Interesting choice...I guess they had to tie the '1997' pic in there somehow!

Bonus Track:
1. If Only
2. A Song To Sing
3. Weird (MON Version)
